ARAUCO: Sustainable Partner of the Rally Chile Biobío World Championship 2025
Local Commitment- This event will bring together the world’s top drivers, competing on forest routes recognized as some of the best in the world.
- The forestry company will lead the carbon footprint neutralization of the Rally and has committed to planting one tree for every kilometer traveled.
Starting on September 11, a new edition of the Rally Chile Biobío World Championship will take place, with Arauco participating for the fourth consecutive year as a strategic partner, reaffirming its environmental commitment. The Chilean stage is one of the most sustainable on the global calendar and the only one that fully offsets its carbon footprint. This effort, led by the company, includes the measurement, verification, and compensation of the event’s carbon footprint, which amounts to approximately 8,000 tons of CO₂e, equivalent to the annual capture of half a million reforested trees.
“This is a global event that puts Biobío on the world stage. We are proud to open our routes and, at the same time, lead a unique sustainability standard in the World Rally calendar. The beauty of being renewable is showing that sports development, community, and nature can coexist harmoniously, with a signature born in Chile that transcends borders,” said Charles Kimber, Corporate Manager of People and Sustainability at Arauco.
From its R&D center Bioforest, the company implements protocols to protect flora and fauna, including on-site monitoring and the presence of wildlife guards during the competition. Sustainability here is not just a statement, it’s action, measurement, and continuous improvement.
In the same spirit, Arauco’s environmental and social commitment goes beyond this sporting event. This year, a donation of over 10,000 native trees has been reinforced, and recycling stations will be installed for waste management. Additionally, through the Open Forest program, the company has promoted more than 500 educational, recreational, and community activities, involving over 150,000 people on its lands.
One of the main attractions of the event is the Rally Village, a free and family-friendly space to experience the excitement of the race from a privileged point, with rest areas, food, and entertainment. It will be located in the shared strip between the Lota and Biobío stages, with two passes per day on Saturday, September 13, and Sunday, September 14.
The Rally Chile Biobío World Championship is a global sporting event with an audience comparable to Formula 1. For the Biobío Region and for Chile, it represents an opportunity to show the world that it is possible to organize high-impact sporting competitions in harmony with nature, open to the community, and with an unwavering commitment to the future.
