Artificial intelligence will play a key role in the 2024 fire season in Chile. From our Fire Center, located in Concepción, this technology will support the implementation of 122 robot cameras that will alert dispatchers in case of unusual activity throughout the different monitored areas.

Another of the innovations incorporated is the creation of the Wood Tracking app, a platform similar to “Waze”, so that forest brigades can obtain the most appropriate routes and thus reach the emergency in the shortest possible time.

This year is expected to be a complex season due to high temperatures and increased growth of plant material due to winter rains. Hence, the importance of having more and better resources, supported by sophisticated technologies that complement the work of prevention, detection, management, and firefighting.

“We have worked hard, in addition to conducting various studies of lessons learned. We are here, available to everyone to prevent major tragedies from happening.” German Neumann, Head of Fire Protection at ARAUCO.
